Four councillors of the Palampur Municipal Council Harinder Parwana, Rita Jamwal, Sudesh Sood and Suman Kumari have demanded Vigilance probe against the executive officer (EO) of the council. These members have alleged that EO has committed gross irregularities during the past six month while performing his official duties, which caused a huge loss to the state exchequer. So these members have urged Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to intervene in it.
In a press conference in the office of the municipal council, the councillors alleged that EO has not constituted a purchase committee and spend lakhs of rupees of council which has cost dearly to Palampur Municipal Council. These councillors have alleged that development has stalled in the last six months as EO has failed to even awarding any contractors despite the availability of funds. Councillors claimed that MP Shanta Kumar had given Rs 1 crore to the council six months ago for the construction of Nandan Park in the town. An amount of Rs 25 lakh was lying in the bank, but the executive officer was reluctant to take up the construction work. Likewise, the local MLA had given Rs 25 lakh for the construction of a parking lot in the old LIC office, but the executive officer failed to take up the construction work.
