Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh attended the passing out parade ceremony at Police Training Centre (PTC), Daroh in Tehsil Palampur of district Kangra.
While addressing the Police personnel on the occasion, Chief Minister congratulated the PTC staff and 665 passing out trainees, including 159 women constables and exhorted the passing out cadets to serve the common man with dedication and selflessness. He said
“You have an important role to play in serving the humanity and I hope that you will rise upon the expectations of the people and will carry out your responsibilities in a befitting manner giving due respect to the law of Land”
He said that Police personnel were the image makers of the Government and their true behaviour in general public, their rapport with masses and their sincere efforts to solve the problems of the people will simultaneously improve the image of the Police department as well.
Chief Minister also advised the cadets to maintain the dignity of the ‘Khaki’ adding that it was their duty to protect the weak and needy and to instill in them the confidence so that they may lead a life out of fear.
The Chief Minister said that the HP Police was known for its sincerity and commitment which was as opposite to their counterparts in other parts of the country and the passing out cadets would follow the ideals so as to maintain the image of the State police and will never do such wrong will bring a bad name to their department.
The State Government was initiating measures for modernization of the department and had made a provision of Rs. 2.37 crore during last one year. He said that government was committed for modernizing the State Police force and under the Police Modernization Scheme a provision of Rs 2.16crore for modern communication system, technology, training etc., had been done this year.
The Chief Minister also distributed prizes to few meritorious cadets on the occasion and also inspected the parade and took salute from an impressive march-past presented by the cadets. He also planted a sapling in the campus of PTC Daroh. Women cadet, Sarita was declared as the best overall cadet.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated Barracks for women and men police force constructed at the cost of Rs 1.65crore and Rs 3.25 crore respectively.
He announced a sum of Rs 20 lakh for furnishing of the inaugurated buildings of the centre and Rs.10 lakh each for renovation and maintenance of existing buildings and the inner roads and paths within the campus of PTC Daroh.
Virbhadra Singh also released a book written by Naveen Rana, Medical Officer, PTC Daroh titled ‘Chikitsa Vigyan Avam Police Anveshan’.
Earlier, DGP Sanjay Kumar welcomed the Chief Minister on the occasion and detailed about the ongoing activities in the training centre Daroh.
IG Training, PTC Daroh GD Bhargava administered the oath of allegiance and secrecy to the passing out cadets. He said that few passing out cadets amongst both men and women were highly qualified and well versed with the latest technology besides being sports persons par excellence.

Transport Minister GS Bali, Agriculture and MPP Minister Sujan Singh Pathania, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Jagjivan Pal, MLAs, Ajay Mahajan, Sanjay Rattan and Yadvinder Goma, Chairman, State Planning Board, GR Musafir, Chairman KCC Bank Jagdish Sipahiya, Vice Chairman HIMUDA Yashwant Chhazta and other senior officers of the Police department were present on the occasion amongst others.
