The Himachal Pradesh High Court has dismissed the election petition of Kuldeep Singh Pathania with costs of Rs 25,000.
In his election petition Congress leader Pathania had accused of rigging on many polling stations and challenged the election of BJP candidate Bikram Singh Jaryal. However, Justice VK Sharma observed that the petition was lacking in material facts and dismissed the petition without being put to trial.
Kuldeep Singh Pathania, who is also a Chairman, HP State Pollution Control Board, had contested the 2012 state Assembly election as Congress candidate from Bhatiyat Assembly segment of Chamba district but lost it to BJP candidate by meager 111 votes.
