Opposition Congress terms appointments unnecessary and to contain growing resentment
Shimla: Ahead of the parliamentary election, the state government has adjusted its leaders into the government by appointing them as a Chairman and nine Vice-Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations of the state.
BJP leader from Shimla Ganesh Dutt, who was seeking ticket from Shimla assembly segment, has been appointed as the Chairman of the HIMFED. And another claimant from Shimla segment Rupa Sharma as Vice Chairman of Saksham Gudiya Board.
Nadaun ex-legislature Vijay Agnihotri has been appointed as Vice Chairman of HRTC, Ram Kumar from Una as Vice Chairman of HPSID and former Minister Praveen Sharma, a close confident of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, as Vice Chairman of HIMUDA.
BJP Kinnaur leader Surat Negi has been appointed as Vice Chairman of Forest Corporation, Manohar Dhiman from Kangra as Vice Chairman of General Industries Corporation.
Darshan Saini of Solan has been appointed as Vice Chairman Himachal Water Management Board, Sirmaur’s Baldev Tomar appointed as Vice Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Food and Supplies Corporation and Kullu BJP leader Ram Singh has been given charge of HPMC.
The opposition Congress has termed the appointed unnecessary and an outcome of political compulsions. Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri said the appointments has been made to contain the growing resentment in the party, and will also put unnecessary stress on debt ridden state exchequer. Meanwhile the state chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has rubbished Agnihotri’s criticism and advised Congress to focus on growing factionalism in its own party. He claimed that the appointments was made in the interests of the government and the party.
