Shimla: Veteran politician and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today celebrated his 82nd birthday at his residence ‘Holly Lodge’ where people in large number from all walks of life arrived to greet him.
The fans and supporters from all parts of the State started arriving at Holly Lodge since early morning to offer greetings to him. A large number of people came in group dancing with traditional musical instruments. The cultural troupes from various parts of the State also presented cultural programme on the occasion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended birthday greeting to Virbhadra Singh. Prime Minister conveyed his greeting on microblogging website Twitter.
Governor Kalyan Singh in his felicitation message wished him a healthy and long life. The Cabinet Ministers, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations, senior officers of the State Government along-with people of different sections of the society greeted the Chief Minister and wished him a healthy and long life.
The Chief Minister thanked his well wishers. He said the people of the State had always showered their love and faith in him and it was due to this support that he was serving the State as Chief Minister for sixth time. He expressed hope that with the support and good wishes of the people, he would be able to take Himachal Pradesh further on the path of prosperity and development and this hilly State would scale new heights of achievements.
He also inaugurated blood donation camp at Ridge and Congress Bhawan. The Chief Minister also participated in Community Lunch (Langar) organized by Harish Janartha, Vice-Chairman State Tourism Development Corporation.
