Shimla: With the growing popularity and penetration of Digital form of Media (New Media) among the masses, the H.P Information and Public Relations Department has decided to use it for better information management and dissemination of policies and programmes of the State Government.
In a review meeting of the officers of Information and Public Relations Department, today, Information & Public Relations Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that in the present changing media landscape, greater stress had to be given on better and effective use of new media.
The Minister asked officials of PR Department to update their professional skills by taking advantage of the modern tools of information so that they could also apply the same in their day to day functioning.
He advised the department to provide proper feedback regarding the policies and programmes of the State Government, which he believe helping in establishing better understanding between the Government and the masses.
Agnihotri said that apart from adequate use of all possible modern media, the Department should ensure optimum use of traditional media. He said that Song and Drama unit of the Department should regularly perform in rural areas of the State to educate the people regarding schemes and programmes of the Government.
Dr M.P Sood, Director, Information and Public Relations Department and senior officers of the Department were presented at the meeting.
