Shimla: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today unveiled the statue of Dr. Y.S. Parmar, the first Chief Minister of the State in the premises of H.P. University, Summer Hill.
Presiding over a function organized in the auditorium of the University on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the State Government had given top priority to education sector as education was the bedrock of a developed society.
Virbhadra Singh said that H.P. University was amongst the leading Universities of the country which had produced various brilliant brains in different disciplines. He gave a clarion call to the faculty members and students to maintain the dignity and decorum of this prestigious institute.
He honoured Sunil Dutt Gautam and Sheetla Devi Gautam who have prepared the statue of Dr. Parmar.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Vice Chairman, HPTDC and Member of the Executive Council of H.P. University Harish Janaratha, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajender Singh Chauhan and other senior faculty members and students of the University were present on the occasion.
