After grueling six days in the mighty but treacherous Himalayan routes, Mohali lad Amartej Buwal won the 16th Maruti Suzuki Raid De Himalaya.
Amartej Buwal topped in Raid Xtreme (4X4) category with a time score of 10.35.41 hours, while Capt Ajay Vir Singh Gill comes second with 10:36:51 hours. He was just trailed by less than 2 minutes. Karan Jung of Uttarakhand bagged the third position. He clocked 10:50:10 hours.
In the Adventure Category Jagmeet Gill with navigator Chandan Sen, scored a hat-trick by standing first (3:20), while Subir Roy with navigator Neerav Mehta finished second (3:40, and Ashish Budhia with navigator Arindam Ghosh settled for the third place (4:53).
In Adventure Car Category Rajesh Chalana and Yogesh Gupta emerged as the winner.
In Raid Xtreme (Bikes), Nataraj R of Bangalore, riding a TVS RTR 450, begged the first position with 9:50:00 hours followed by Suresh Babu, riding a Suzuki RMX 450 Z (10:29:01), while Sourabh Handa, riding a KTM Duke 390, was placed in third position (10:49:28).
Main attraction of the Raid Sohail Khan has also successfully completed the event and vowed to participate again in the event.
Raid De Himalaya legend and nine time winner Suresh Rana unlucky crashed out from the event when he failed to negotiate a sharp turn at Nakee La and his vehicle went-off the road.
