On the call of the Left parties in the country the CPM Himachal Pradesh holding protest demonstrations tomorrow i.e. 14th May 2014 throughout the state against the violence and rigging in West Bengal.
The CPM leader Tikender Singh Panwar stated that the party demanding re-polls in over 1000 booths where they believed that the Trinamool Congress had intimidated the electorates to vote in their favour.
CPM alleged that the entire state machinery and the police connived in this effort to manipulate the elections. The elections were marked with widespread violence, capture of more than a thousand polling booths, polling agents of opposition parties were driven out and physical attacks on people were mounted who were going to vote.
The CPI has also ridiculed the election commission of India to come out of the VIP syndrome and start looking at the vulnerable constituencies in the country as well. CPM accused the ECI for failing to intervene effectively during this round of polling, even though there was enough forewarning about what was to come after the earlier two phases of polling.
The CPM demands Election Commission to intervene urgently to restore conditions for a free and fair poll and demanded re-poll in all the affected polling booths in the third, fourth and fifth rounds of polling.
