Health & Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur revealed that state government had provided Rs. 4.50 crores to the cloudburst affected Lahaul and Spiti district and Rs. 2.50 crores has been utilized for its restoration.
Health & Family Welfare Minister said it while responding to the query of Ravi Thakur, legislature Lahaul-Spiti. Minister revealed that even on Tuesday itself extra Rs. 1 crore was released to the Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul and Spiti for restoration work and to compensate the affected people.
Kaul Singh, in his reply acknowledged that rain and cloudburst had caused huge damages in Udaipur Sub-Division of Lahaul and Spiti district. Minister informed house that Govt was concerned about the tribal area of Himachal Pradesh. He stated that for roads and bridges, Govt have already provided Rs. 41 crores to PWD. Another Rs. 30 cores is being given more to PWD for restoration work in Himachal Pradesh, minister revealed. Minister added that Govt has ensured more funds if needed in district.
Ravi Thakur also raised the question of vacant posts of specialists in Lahaul-Spiti hospitals. Health & Family Welfare Minister acknowledged the fact of vacant posts of specialists in Lahaul and revealed that department has decided to send specialists from Kullu fortnightly and will be available there for three to four days.
Minister apprised the house that every quarter department holding super specialty camps in tribal region of state. Minister revealed that four multi specialty camps under NRHM have been held at Keylong, Kaza and Udaipur in which 156 surgeries have been done during the year 2013.
