Supporting the cause of ex-servicemen, member of Parliament Pratibha Singh urged the Union Minister for Defence A K Antony to consider the genuine demand of “One Rank One Pension” for ex-servicemen on priority basis, so that soldier’s pension be determined by their rank and length of service.

In a letter written to Defence Minister, Mandi parliamentarian said that there was a difference in the pension being granted to the old pensioners in comparison with the new retirees, despite having retired with the same rank and length of service. She said that, the ex-servicemen had been demanding redressal of their problem since long besides adoption of “One Rank One Pension” policy.

Singh apprised that recently, the Committee of the Cabinet Secretary had made seven recommendations in this regard which has narrow gap, but it was not a solution for removal of this anomaly.

Pratibha Singh has stated that Ex-servicemen Associations were not satisfied with the recommendations of Committee of the Cabinet Secretary, since pension was the only financial support for them to meet out their family/social obligations.
