Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh inaugurated a gymnasium at Paddal ground in Mandi district constructed at cost of Rs. 50 lakh. Various facilities have been provided for health conscious people including cycling, jogging, straper and weight training equipments in this gymnasium. There would be separate sessions for women in the gymnasium.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister stressed upon the need to make the people especially youth aware about health and fitness. He said that drug addiction among youth was a matter of concern which hinders the progress and overall development of the youth. He appealed the youth to participate in social service works and to make use of their energy in creative activities.
Earlier, Chief Minister flagged off awareness race from Mandi organised by Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board under Public Interaction Programme for making consumers more aware about their rights. On this occasion Chief Minister said that such campaigns and exhibitions were more useful as they act as direct medium of communication. About 40 athletes participated in the race.

Negi, Superintendent of Police, Kamal Sharma, Director, Youth Services and Sports, Suman Rawat, Joint Director, YSS, Senior officers and other dignitaries were present among others on the occasion.
