Chairman State Level Planning Development and 20 Point Programme Committee Ram Lal Thakur has lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for effectively taking up various issues pertaining to the State with Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister during the recently held meeting at New Delhi.
Ram Lal Thakur said that the Chief Minister had requested the Prime Minister to provide special financial package of Rs 7565 crore to tide over the difficult financial situation since the 13th Financial Commission misjudged the committed liabilities of the State so as to bring down the fiscal deficit. He said that Prime Minister had assured the Chief Minister that matter regarding providing special financial package to the would be examined sympathetically
Ram Lal also lauded the initiative taken the Chief Minister for conserving the fragile ecology and environment of the State. He said that it was due to the endeavour of Virbhadra Singh that the World Bank and Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) has sanctioned US $ 100 million i.e. Rs 550 crore as financial aid for promoting inclusive Green Growth and sustainable development in Himachal Pradesh.
He said that the Chief Minister was also concerned for getting approved the ‘Clean Technology Fund’ worth Rs. 500 crore from the World Bank and the proposal to this regard was underway.
Ram Lal said that the all-round development of the State was the main concern of the State Government. He said that the Government was committed to ensure that the benefits of development reach the person living at the lowest ebb. He said that the Chief Minister has also taken up the issue of expansion of rail network in the State with the Union Railway Minister. He said that it was due to the effective persuasion of the Chief Minister that the Union Railway Minister has assured the State that the work on Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri and Amb-Talwara rail lines would be started soon.
