As per the notification issued by the State Government here today, it has been decided to declare the tribal district of Kinnaur as ‘Natural calamity affected area’ considering the grave climatic conditions.
Considering an SOS call from the district administration of Kinnaur, the decision has been taken to help them in relief and rescue work. The tribal district of Kinnaur is experiencing heavy snowfall for the last three days and heavy snowfall during the last fortnight has led to avalanches in certain areas.
National Highway-22 has been completely blocked due to avalanches and land slides and there are cases of human sufferings due to damage to and destruction of property and crops beyond the coping capacity of the community for the affected area of district Kinnaur.
After the weather becomes normal and accessibility is ensured, the assessment of the loss to the lives, property, livestock, infrastructure and crops shall be carried out by the administration where-in it will submit the report of damages and destruction and on this basis the memorandum will be submitted to GoI for releasing the funds to cop up with this unprecedented calamity.
