State Govt has declared high Alert in higher reaches of the State particularly in tribal districts of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti and Pangi Sub division of district Chamba which experienced intermittent heavy snowfall since past few days. Weather condition likely to improve and forecast of clear sky by Met department, Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur, Capt J.M. Pathania, Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul & Spiti, Bir Singh Thakur and office of Resident Commissioner, Killar (Pangi) have issued warning to the people and advised them to stay indoors and not venture out in open because of possibility of avalanches.

Bir Singh Thakur said that though two to three avalanches had occurred in Spiti area and Udaipur sub-division of Lahaul today itself but no loss of life and property and been reported. He said that the all the schools had been closed till 11th February, 2013.
