The arena in HP state election is heating up with each passing day. All the candidates from the two major political parties – BJP and Congress – are pin pointing against each other on development and other major issues. The latest remark comes from the Senior Congress leader from Kotkhai, Guman Singh, who alleged that BJP government has failed on all fronts – be it development, road conditions or keeping their promises made during the last assembly polls.
He further said in his comment that Jubbal-Kotkhai MLA and Horticulture minister Narinder Bragta failed to protect the interest of apple growers as the roads remain in the dilapidated conditions and Chhaila-Hatkoti road is the prime example of it. Also, his much touted anti hail guns filed to fire when their need was dire.
On the other, he said that Bragta failed to keep his promise of upgrading the carton factory at Gumma which was closed instead when he came to power. Many other schemes inaugurated in the region during the BJP tenure lack the proper financial provision to make them successful.
The resentment of people, in the words of Guman Singh, against the current ruling party can not only be witnessed in the form of overwhelming support of people that Congress party got in Jubbal, Kotkhai and Nawar workers’ meeting but also when the Congress party candidate from the region, Rohit Thakur, filed nomination. The massive support has certainly boosted up Congress party workers’ morale for the forthcoming assemble elections. However, it remains to be seen which way the wind blows on November 4, 2012. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
