Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal announced that Hamirpur to get one world class shooting range facility to train youth in shooting event. He announced it while speaking on the occasion of the computer distribution function organized to provide free computers to 40 Government schools of district Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una, at Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Hamirpur.
Chief Minister said that it was a historic day to the people of district Hamirpur where developmental projects worth over Rs. 100 crore were being dedicated and foundation stone laid for the benefit of the people of the district. He said that Himachal Pradesh had not been the leader in all major sectors but was also the land of warriors which had produced best soldiers in the armed forces. He said that Hamirpur district had set new record with the winning of Silver Medal by youth of the district Vijay Kumar in ongoing London Olympics in shooting event. He said that the State Government had announced a cash reward of Rs. one crore to the Olympian Silver Medalist Vijay Kumar besides conferring ‘Himachal Gourav’ Award in Independence Day Function this month. He said that shooting range would also be provided at Hamirpur to give boost to shooting sport by taking inspiration from the Olympian Vijay Kumar to earn laurels to the nation and the State.
