Angry over delay in declaring results of interviews conducted for the posts of panchayat sahayak in the local development block, workers of the Nurpur Block Congress Committee protested outside the office of the Block Development Officer.
The workers, led by committee president Baldev Pappi, raised slogans against the state government, Panchayati Raj Department, local SDM and the BDO. They also submitted a memorandum to the SDM demanding the immediate declaration of results for which interviews were conducted in April this year. As many as 595 candidates had appeared for the interview.
The committee alleged there was political pressure behind the delay in results. The protesters said they would gherao the BDO in person if the results were not declared by September 3.
