All the schools and educational institutions in the State will conduct mock drills on 4th April, 2012, to remember the day when earthquake shook Kangra in 1905, stated a Government spokesperson here today. He said that a decision was taken in the meeting of Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA), which was presided over by Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal, in December last that all the schools and educational institutions would conduct mock drills atleast four times in a year in their premises.
He said that mock drills would also be conducted on 13 October every year, to mark International day of Disaster Risk Reduction. The Disaster Management Cell of the Revenue Department had issued necessary guidelines to the teachers as to how to conduct the mock drills on earthquake and fire in a safe manner. This would help in enhancing the level of emergency preparedness in schools.
