Senior Congress leader and former Forest Minister in Virbhadra Government, Ram Lal Thakur claimed that congress stalwart Virbhadra Singh will lead the upcoming assembly election campaign of the Congress party in the state. Ram Lal Thakur said it while addressing as chief guest a conference of party workers and activists at Bhaged in Bilaspur district.
Ram Lal Thakur said the BJP being in power had several initial advantages and only a competent and experienced leader should be entrusted to take the BJP by the horns and defeat it decisively in the next election. He said even today the mass appeal and popularity of the former Chief Minister was unparallelled in the state.
Ram Lal also asked party workers to work hard and advised them to do not underestimate BJP in the coming election. He said workers must fan out in villages and tell people from door to door all the beneficial policies and programmes of the Congress and the present Central schemes being implemented in the state.
This meeting was called by congress leader Bambar Thakur and presided over by former MLA and Parliamentary secretary from Ghumarwin Kashmir Singh Thakur. Ram Lal Thakur is a party state general secretary and his claim about the Virbhadra Singh’s leadership for the upcoming assembly election shows Virbahdra Singh hold in the state party affairs and make him strong contender for the Chief Minister post.
