Principal Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Manisha Nanda said that Ministry of Tourism, Government of India will carry out the tourist statistics survey in the State of Himachal Pradesh for a period of one year in the current financial year. Manisha Nanda said that this survey will help in better planning and strategy for the tourism sector. The objective of the survey is to know the exact statistics of the tourists visiting the State and country, she added.
She said that the district and destination wise survey is to be conducted on parameters such as purpose of visit, mode of traveling, type of accommodation where the tourist would stay, expenditure pattern, duration of stay, total number of tourists visiting a destination and general profile of the tourists etc. She further said that the survey result be a good data base for destination and infrastructure planning.
