Police confirm that one person was buried alive and two others were injured in a cloudburst at Udaipur village in Chamba District. Half a dozen houses and shops were partially damaged in the natural disaster. Deceased is identified as Prakash Chand and the other two injured were shifted to zonal hospital Chamba, whereas five other villagers who were buried alive under the debris were rescued today. It’s learned that cloudburst hit the ill fated village late Tuesday night.
The meteorological office in Shimla has forecast heavy rainfall and thundershowers with wind speed reaching 40 to 50 km per hour at some places in Chamba, Mandi, Shimla, Kullu and Kangra districts till Thursday.
