National Fisheries Board has approved to set up Trout Processing Unit with the collaboration of Indian Agriculture Research Council at Patlikuhl in Kullu district. Spokesman of the State Government said that this processing centre would process trout fish at an industrial scale so as to increase shelf life of products of trout fish. He further added that this unit at Kullu would be first of its kind in and around 1000 km of area. It’ll increase the production of trout fish 5 times.

He said that high production of trout fish will enable the trout fish producers to fetch high prices in the market. National Fisheries Board will provide financial assistance of Rs 2.1 crore for the project. The State Fisheries Department has drawn up an ambitious project of 5 lakh kg production of trout fish annually.
