Tables seem to be turning for worse for the Tibetans in the State, as the government has expedited the processes of vesting about 73 properties of the Tibetan government-in-exile in the name of the Himachal Pradesh State government. The properties would later be leased out only on account of an application filed by the Tibetan government-in-exile to the State government. The 73 benami properties to be vested include the Kagyu sect monastery of the 17th Karmapa, Ugyen Trinley. The vested property in the name of the state government would be allotted on lease to the Dalai Lama Trust on deposit of 10% of the present market value of the property.
