On his two day Himachal Pradesh visit, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi asked partymen to put united face to oust the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government in the forthcoming assembly election in state. He said that because of infighting Congress lost to BJP in last assembly election and this time too, infighting can diminish the chances as well.
Rahul Gandhi while addressing legislators and party functionaries, cleared that there was no place for factionalism in congress and added that if there were any, sort them out as soon as possible and work for the united goal and prepare a roadmap for the elections.
Gandhi in his closed-door meetings with Congress leaders and the party functionaries at Kullu town, asked workers and leaders that recommendations of block, district and state Congress committees would be given weightage while allocating tickets.
He made clear that paratroopers will not be accommodated this time and candidate’s hard work and acceptability in the region will be the main factor behind the ticket distribution. He also hinted that the tickets would be allocated in advance to enable candidates to have adequate time for campaigning.
At the meeting, former union minister and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, union Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma, Vidya Stokes, Kaul Singh Thakur, AICC general secretary in charge of Himachal Birinder Singh Chaudhary and other party leaders were present.
