Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, who is also the Chairperson of Himachal Pradesh Women Development Corporation, while presiding over a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Corporation here today revealed that the Board would release interest free loans to girl students for pursuing technical and vocational education in maximum two installments.
She said that there was a provision of providing interest free loan upto Rs. 75000 for girl students under the scheme and added that earlier the loan had been released in installments of Rs. 15000. He said that now the Corporation had decided to release the loan in two installments to facilitate the girl students.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister said that the Corporation had earned a profit of Rs. 15.83 lakh during the previous financial year. She appreciated the efforts made by the Corporation for sustaining on its own resources. She said that the Corporation had disbursed loans worth Rs. 467. 59 lakh to 673 women under Swarojgar Yojna during the last financial year besides disbursing interest subsidy of Rs. 9.27 lakh. She said that loans worth Rs. 480 lakh would be provided to 800 women under the Yojna during the current financial year. She said that the Corporation had also imparted training in the trades of beautician and fashion designing to 20 orphan girls.
Minister directed the officers to take effective steps to enhance the income of the Corporation. Work Plan for 2012-13 was approved in the meeting. Abhishek Jain, Managing Director welcomed the Minister and apprised her of the activities of the Corporation. S.K. Dash, Additional Chief Secretary, Shivanand Sharma, General Manager, Board of Directors, Official Members and officers of various departments were present in the meeting among others.
