Candidates for MC Shimla elections are making all-out effort to woo voters. CPM had announced its candidates well in time and taking advantage of it, campaigning in all over Shimla MC Periphery and trying to woo them with their work for all section of the society. They are promising overall development of Shimla. Its Mayor candidate Sanjay Chauhan and Deputy Mayor Nominee Tikender Singh Panwar are making sure to meet every citizen of Shimla MC.
On the other side, BJP is riding high on Govt work in its present tenure and local MLA Suresh Bhardwaj is making every possible effort to ensure its official nominee Dr SS Minhas for Mayor and Dig Vijay Singh Chauhan (Bhanu) for Deputy Mayor good show. BJP had wrenched MLA seat from Congress in 2007 assembly election and this is first time when Mayor and Deputy Mayor Post will be elected directly by the electoral, and BJP will try to give positive message before assembly election to its supporters. BJP candidate Dr SS Minhas is from non-political background and he will get tough competition from CPM Sanjay Chauhan and Congress Madhu Sood as both are recognised as tough contender for the post.
Congress candidates, who got party approval on the last date of the nomination, riding high on its work in Shimla MC and proudly elaborating its achievements to voters. Congress decided to go with sitting Mayor Madhu Sood for this election. Although Congress was late to announce candidates, yet party workers are confidently canvassing for its candidates to ensure its 25 years long reign. However, this time Congress is getting little competition from its own people as party senior leader and former Mayor Manoj Kumar is fighting against party wish and can damage party prospect in this direct election for mayor.
