Shimla: As many as 8937 students have taken admissions in the 17 Private Universities functioning in the State during academic session 2016-17.
A Spokesperson of the H.P. Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission, revealed today that Solan based Shoolini University topped the list with 1162 students, Manav Bharti University 996, while Shimla based APG Shimla University enrolled 847 students. Interestingly Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU), only Private University offering Medical courses in the state succeeded to enroll only 24 students for the current academic year.
To provide a regulatory mechanism in the State and for working as an interface between the State Government and Central Regulatory Bodies for ensuring appropriate standards of admission, teaching examination, research and protection of interest of students in the Private Educational Institutions the state government constituted H.P. Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission.
