Shimla: Heavy rains has wreaked havoc in the Shimla city. Landslides have blocked the traffic and over a dozen trees were also uprooted in the town.
Authority has managed to clear the roads in time, but heavy traffic rush in the morning causing traffic congestion on most part of the city. Busiest circular road is most hit as long queue of vehicles are causing inconvenience to the office going. At some parts pavement were also cave in and posing problems to school children.
As per report Shimla received 79 mm rains, followed by Dharamshala 56 mm, Sangrah 52 mm, Mandi 22 mm, Pachhad 21mm, Baijnath 20 mm, Nahan 19 mm, Jogindernagar 17 mm, Khadrala 15 mm, Sundernagar 14 mm, Sarkaghat 9 mm and Nurpur 8 mm.
Incessant rains has also helped dipping minimum temperatures. Kalpa was reported coldest in the region with a low of 13 degrees Celsius, while Keylong and Manali recorded minimum temperature at 15 degrees and 15.4 degrees, followed by Shimla 15.5 degrees, Dharamsala 16.4 degrees, Nahan 19.7 degrees, Solan 20.0 degrees, Bhuntar 21.4 degrees, Sundernagar 22.0 degrees and Una 25.3 degrees C.
Una and Bhuntar were hottest during the day with a high of 34.5 degrees Celsius while Shimla recorded maximum temperature 22.5 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has warned of heavy rains at isolated places in mid hills tomorrow and predicted rains or thundershowers at many places over the next six days till August 6.
