Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has slammed union government decision of steep hike in railways fares 14.2% passenger fares and 6.5% in freight rates and commented that good days were proving to be worse.
Chief Minister, while reacting on rail fare and freight hike, stated that Narender Modi led Union Government decision will affect the common man adversely and would lead to further price hike of essential commodities. Singh feared
“Not only the prices of all the essential commodities would increase but the hilly States like Himachal Pradesh would be the worst sufferers”
Taking jibe at the slogan of ‘good days’ of BJP, Chief Minister said that such good days will make the people reel under the weight of rising prices.
On the other side, BJP has justified the fare hike. Finance Minister termed that the hike was absolutely necessary in order to bring the cash-strapped national transporter back on track.
The decision of railway fare hike was actually taken by the UPA government on February 10, and left for the new government to implement.
As per report, Railways has been losing Rs 30 crore every day and passenger subsidy alone had been adding up to Rs 26,000 crore.
