Cold wave persisted in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as tribal areas and higher parts of the state received another spell of snowfall while lower hills were lashed by thunderstorm accompanied by intermittent showers.
The local Met department has reported that heavy snowfall on the high reaches including Rohtang Pass, Marhi, Jalori Jot of Kullu, Dhouladhar ranges in Kangra district, Kinner Kailesh and Shirkhand Kailesh peaks in Kinnuar, Churdhar and Dodra Kawar regions, Manimesh, Baralacha and Sach Passes, Dhalouse.
District Administration of Lahaul Spiti has issued an advisory for the people to remain inside their houses as avalanches could be triggered in high reaches.
Shimla city lashed with thunder showers and insistent rain along with sporadic snow flakes, whereas nearby Kufri Narkanda, Kharapather have received 10, 15 cm and 25 cm respectively of fresh snowfall. Vehicular traffic on NH-22 and Theog-Chopal, Theog-Jubbal Kotkhai and Rohru has again disrupted. Vehicular activities in Manali have also been disrupted as city also received mild fresh snowfall.
Temperature in most parts of the state has dipped further and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a low of minus 5.6 deg C, followed by Manali 0.8 deg C, Shimla 3.1 deg C, Solan and Nahan 6.5 deg C, Bhuntar 7.1 deg C, Palampur 7.5 deg C and Dharamsala 8.2 deg C.
The local MeT office has warned of heavy snowfall in tribal areas and other higher hills and thunder squall/hail at some places in lower and mid hills during next 48 hours.
