After failing to secure Lok Sabha Elections 2019 ticket from Mandi parliamentary constituency for grandson Aashray Sharma, telecom scam tainted Sukh Ram, a minister in the Congress government led by PV Narasimha Rao, has re-joined the Indian National Congress.
Nonagenarian politician Sukh Ram and his grandson Ashray Sharma rejoined the Congress in the presence AICC in charge of Himachal Rajni Patil, state party chief Kuldeep Rathore, Congress Legislature Party leader Mukesh Agnihotri, senior MLA Asha Kumari, AICC secretary for the state Gurkirat Kotli and Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.
It is being speculated that Congress is fielding Aashray Sharma from Mandi parliamentary. Aashray father Anil Sharma is cabinet minister in Jai Ram Thakur led state government.
Congress veteran leader Virbhadra Singh has welcomed Sukhram in the party fold. In a Facebook post he said that Sukhram reentry in the party will strengthen the party prospect in the state.
