The Telecom Operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in district Shimla has earned record Rs. 110 crore revenue during 2016-17. In a special event organized at the Tar Ghar building of BSNL in Shimla to reward extraordinary performers (employees). The 42 rewarded employees include many of those who worked in the month January during heavy snowfall to keep BSNL services running.
The Managing Director BSNL Shimla, MC Singh, informed during the reward ceremony that a special campaign ‘Take Today Talk Today, Chalo Gaon Ki Or “ was undertaken last year. Under this campaign, BSNL staff approached consumers through door-to-door visits and sold more than 1.20 lakh prepaid connections.
In the current year, villages with no connectivity will remain the primary target for BSNL, he said. There are 430 mobile BTS in Shimla district that are serving remote regions of Kinnaur, Spiti-Valley, and Anni division of Kullu. Out of the total, 75 3G BTS were installed during 2016-17 and more 60 will be installed very soon, he added.
Shimla town will be connected with new NGN technique this year, and work for the same is in progress, he claimed.
Considering the efforts of Reliance Jio to spread its roots, BSNL has also launched three new unlimited data packs (combo). One package offers unlimited calls+data, one offers only data, and the last allows almost unlimited calls per month with unlimited data. These are cheapest cell phone plans for data and voice calls in the present market.
