Rohru: As many as 30 houses were gutted in a massive fire at Tangnu village in Rohru area of Shimla district rendering 48 families houseless.

The exact loss is yet to be assessed but is likely to run into crores of rupees, however good news is that no causality was reported so far. The cause of the fire is not known, and is suspected to be triggered by short circuit.

Police said that fire incident broke out in late night. The local people immediately started rescue operations, but due to the strong wind nothing could be saved. SDM Rohru Anupam Thakur also rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operations.

The local administration has distributed an immediate relief of Rs. 40000 each to 48 families and also made an arrangement of food, blankets, gas cylinders, stoves, tarpaulins to the affected families. The alternate shelter has been arranged at the Government Senior Secondary School Tanganu.

The Chief Minister has expressed sympathies with the affected families of devastating fire. He has directed the administration for immediate necessary help to the affected families.
