Shimla: The state government claimed of clearing 529 roads out of 607 roads for vehicular traffic. A government officers stated to clear remaining within next two days. All National highways except Luhri-Aut via Jalodi pass have been opened.
The Public Works Department had deployed manpower of more than 12000 laborers besides sufficient heavy machinery for restoration of road network.
Officer further claimed of restoring as many as 574 I&PH schemes out of 728 schemes and rest of water supply schemes to be restored within next 3 days. He appealed people to use safe drinking water these days so as to prevent possibility of water borne diseases in the affected areas.
He said situation of power supply in the State had largely improved with overall 90 percent availability of electricity in the affected areas. In Shimla town, 95 percent power supply has been restored. In Rampur and Rohru, 95 percent of electricity restored. In Bharmaur of Chamba district 85 percent restored, Tissa 80 percent, Pangi 100 percent, Salooni and Dalhausie 98 percent. In Mandi district, power supply in Karsog and Pangna areas shall be restored today and rest of the areas within 2-3 days.
He said that all the Departments connected with essential services had been asked to continue deployment of additional staff from other areas for maintaining essential services on priority basis.
He said that all the Deputy Commissioners had been asked to regularly monitor the position of essential commodities in their respective districts. Sufficient stock of essential commodities including LPG is available and the situation is normal.
