Shimla: The HP High Court has issued notices to the state Chief Secretary and others taking suo-motto cognizance of a letter written by Ajai Srivastava, chairman of Umang Foundation to Hon’ble Chief Justice on the matter pertaining to violation of rights of the destitute inmates of Nari Sewa Sadan Mashobra, and non- compliance of court’s orders.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan directed respondents to file reply on 9th December.
The other respondents include are Principal Secretary (Social Justice and Empowerment), Principal Secretary (Home), Director, (SC, OBC & Minority), Director (Women & Child Development), District Programme Officer (Women & Child Development), DC Shimla and Kinnaur; and one Kehar Singh of Kinnaur who wants the release of his minor daughter from Nari Sewa Sadan.
Ajai Srivastava, in his letter, claimed that the life of a minor tribal girl lodged at Nari Sewa Sadan was in danger due and requested the Court to order the Director (Women and Child Development) to take immediate decision on her application for release from Shelter Home.
