Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh CPM has again raised eyebrows over the functioning of APG University and blamed it for violating the admission norms, which University refuted.
Tikender Singh Panwar, CPM leader and MC Shimla deputy mayor, stated that the APG University has inserted advertisement in the prestigious English newspapers today for conducting entrance test for admission to LLM on November 17 for which the course approval was not granted by the commission or the government, he alleged.
Panwar in his press statement welcomed the action of the High Court in taking suo motu notice of the failure of the UGC to enforce norms in private universities and asked the court to take notice of the advertisement which violated the Private Universities Act.
CPM leader said that the court had quashed the commission and not the State Private Universities Act the Section 32 (5) of which makes it mandatory to seek prior of courses. Panwar claimed that the university had not even taken the approval of the government, which was earlier granting the course approval and the responsibility was handed to the Commission only in 2012. The same process has to be followed now as per the law as the Commission was no longer in existence, he claimed.
On the other hand, APG University has refuted the allegations of CPM leader and clarified that they haven’t breached any code of conduct. Spokesperson of APG University stated that LLB result comes late and this test can be conducted in this time only. He reminded that even HPU had conducted such test on 24-09-2013 & 25-09-2013 itself.
