Aiming to reach out to the social media users, Himachal Pradesh Congress organised a day long special training to its leaders at Rajiv Bhawan Shimla, where five All India Congress Committee functionaries gave tips about the use of social media to communicate with people about the policies and programmes of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government.
In this special training, Congress leaders trained to use social media tools – Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp and also trained to reach out to their voters ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections through them.
HPCC spokesperson Naresh Chauhan said that it was a first-of-its-kind workshop to train volunteers from the party on the use of social media tools to reach out to the common man. He added that the party has selected 75 members initially and held workshops to educate them in handling social media. He said more such workshops would be organised in future.
The use of internet in the Himachal Pradesh is increasing rapidly and among youth it has become very popular. Thus, aiming to reach out to the youth, which comprised huge number of voters, Himachal Congress was making all-out effort and hoping to make social media as a tool to reach out to them and shown them positive side of the government.
While speaking at the workshop, Himachal Congress president Sukhvinder Sukhu asked social media volunteers to spread awareness about the ideology and beneficial policies of the party and the government. Congress state chief also asked them to avoid abusive language while using social media. He asked to make positive approach and advised to use social media tool to spread the policies and program of the centre government among the masses.
