Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh has ordered a probe into the land controversy surrounding Asaram’s ashram in Sirmaur district. Chief Minister has directed to submit the report at the earliest. The chief minister said that stern action would be initiated if violations are found as the state government has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards illegal land encroachments and violation of section 118 of Land and Tenancy Act.
Interacting with press in Nahan, the CM issued these directions to deputy commissioner. Asaram Bapu has set up an ashram in Kunja Matralion village of Paonta Sahib tehsil of Sirmaur district and since beginning, villagers were opposed to the ashram as they claim that a large chunk of forest land has been encroached by the ashram.
Chief Minister also directed to probe the allegation of Tibetans encroaching land in Bhiippur village of Sirmaur district where against two bighas of land allotted for Tibetan settlement, around 35 bighas of land has now been encroached by Tibetans.
