Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that sincere efforts should be made for social, economic and education up-liftment of the socially-economically backward and needy sections of the minority community by providing them term loan for setting up self employment ventures of income generation.

Chief Minister said this to Chander Shekhar Singh, IFS who called on him after taking over the charge of Managing Director, H.P. Minorities Finance & Development Corporation (HPMFDC). He directed that the vacant post of Director of HPMFDC, BoD should be filled up from Buddhist community as other minority posts were already filled up.

Chander Shekhar Singh apprised the Chief Minister that there were five minority communities in Himachal Pradesh i.e. Muslim, Buddhist, Sikh, Christian and Parsi having population of 2,75,450 out of total population of 60,77,900 as per 2001 census. He said that Corporation would make all efforts to safeguard the interests of the minority communities.
