Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee has issued show cause notice to Baba Hardeep Singh Bawa, President, Himachal Pradesh INTUC, for his alleged registration of a criminal case against him.
Hardeep Singh Bawa was recently arrested by the Haryana police in connection with a criminal case.
Bawa, who is also chairperson of the State Building Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, on the basis of media reports regarding his involvement in a criminal case. It underlines that the state Congress had adopted the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption and criminalization of politics.
Bawa had been asked to explain the circumstances which led to the registration of the criminal case against him and the nature of the offence allegedly committed by him. He had also been asked to submit a copy of the FIR along with the reply to the notice within fifteen (15) days failing which party will take necessary action.
In case further action like suspension from the party is taken against Bawa, he may be forced to quit the post of chairperson of the board. Party has adopted the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption and criminalization of politics and involvement in criminal case amounts to breach of discipline as per Article XIX (f) (iv) of the constitution of “The Indian National Congress”.
Arrest of Bawa had also created pandemonium in the assembly where opposition BJP had demanded his removal from the post.
