SJVN Limited has bagged achievement award for Social Development & Impact while its Rampur Hydro Electric Project bagged achievement award for Construction Health, Safety and Environment. The achievement awards were presented by the Chairman of the National Statistical Organisation (NSO) Dr Pranav Sen.

Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) is a body established by the Planning Commission (Govt. of India) and Construction Industry. To recognize and honour the valuable contributions and work of the Indian construction fraternity that has significantly enriched the construction domain and has helped bring about positive change in construction practices, CIDC confreres Vishwakarma Awards Annually.

Nand Lal Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN who is also Chairman of SJVN Foundation (a trust implementing CSR activities of SJVN) told that SJVN has adopted its corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy on the basis of guidelines of the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India. The major concerns of SJVN are Education, Health Care, Skill up-gradation of youths, Women Empowerment, Community Facilities, Infrastructural Development and assistance during natural disasters. SJVN has already spent more than `100 crores on various CSR activities, while more than ` 16 crores will be spent on such activities during the Financial Year 2012-13.

He further told that SJVN’s Rampur Hydro electric Project which is scheduled to be commissioned later this year has been setting benchmarks for Health, Safety & Environment and has introduced new technologies such as Geo-Green Technology for the first time in the region. On this occasion R.K. Agarwal, ED (BD&MS), D. Sarveswar, AGM (CSR) and K.L. Vashisht DGM (P&A) along with other officials of SJVN were also present.

Earlier this year, SJVN Limited was also conferred with the “Caring Companies Award” by World CSR Congress at a function held at Mumbai.

These awards aim at cultivating good corporate citizenship and encouraging strategic partnerships among businesses and non-profit organizations to create a more cohesive society. The awards also endeavour to promote partnership between business and social welfare sectors.

The award has been conferred upon SJVN in recognition of outstanding socio-economic welfare activities being done by the company.

SJVN has adopted its CSR policy on the basis of guidelines of the Department of Public Enterprise, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India. To fulfil the objective of CSR Policy, SJVN foundation was constituted as a registered body in October 2011. The major concerns of SJVN Foundation are Education, Health Care, Community Facilities, Infrastructural Development and assistance during natural disasters.

SJVN has already spent more than Rs.100 crores on various CSR activities, while more than Rs. 16 crores will be spent on such activities during the current Financial Year (2012-13).
