Himachal Pradesh’s upper reaches of Lahaul and Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur, Chamba, Mandi, Sirmaur and Shimla districts are experiencing moderate to heavy snow since early Thursday. Picturesque hill station near Shimla, Kufri has received about 40-50cm snow till now, whereas Narkanda has received more then 60cm of snow. All connecting roads to Rohru, Rampur and Chopal of Shimla district have been closed due to the heavy snowfall.
Rohtang pass in Kullu district is also closed after the heavy snowfall. Traffic was also partially affected in upper Manali areas. However it was made operation in the evening but after incessant snowfall in the night it has been closed again.
This fresh snowfall has brought delight to apple growers and tourism sector. With the fresh spell of snowfall Hoteliers are expecting that tourists will throng to Shimla and Manali region.
Apple growers are also happy with the heavy snowfall and expecting it to continue for few more days.
Shimla meteorological office director Manmohan Singh said, high hills of state would get heavy snowfall on Friday and moderate snowfall on Saturday.
