Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh took stock of situation arisen due to heavy snowfall in the State here today immediately after he returned to Shimla from his Delhi and Jaipur tour. He directed the officers to take effective steps to open blocked roads and to ensure supply of electricity, water and other essential commodities to the people.
Dinesh Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla apprised the Chief Minister that all the major roads in Shimla town were opened. He said that Narkanda, Rampur and Sarahan roads would be opened today. He said that efforts were being made to restore the traffic on Kotkhai-Hatkoti road. He said that road to Chopal via Nerwa had been opened and efforts were also afoot to open it via Deha by today. He said that Fagu-Matiyana road was opened as single lane road yesterday and traffic on this road was restored on double lane basis today.
