In the Faculty Development Programme of Bahra University, conducted by “Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India”, under the aegis of “The National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board”, sponsored by Department of Science & Technology – Government of India, Vice Chancellor of Bahra University – Dr S K Bansal, advised teachers of Bahra University to work to provide consultancy and expert advice to the industry and community in the surrounding areas of Bahra University. He said that sharing new technology and performance enhancing methods with entrepreneurs of Himachal shall be one of the key tasks of all teachers at Bahra University.
Dr Bansal told university teachers that in order to develop entrepreneurial skills of students, the teachers should focus on imparting educations through practical exercises and activities, in addition to classroom lectures. While sharing experiences for interactive teaching from his own teaching career, he gave a presentation on “How to conduct practical classes effectively”. He explained various teaching strategies; through which university teachers can not only enhance the skills of students, but can also contribute in the social and economic development of Himachal by sharing their valuable research outcomes with local industry and entrepreneurs.
He called upon the teaching faculty at Bahra University to adopt practical and interactive teaching methodologies to generate the interest of student in improving their learning while actually working on real life assignments. He said that Bahra University intends to deliver high quality education to its students, with an objective to enhance the employability of university pass outs. Dr Bansal also delivered an interactive and value enhancing lecture to university teachers on Time Management.
Dr S K Bansal is an eminent academician with a vast experience of more than 30 years in academics. He is also a renowned civil engineer and have provided consultancy to more than 100 projects of civil engineering. He holds a Masters in Structural Engineering from Punjab University and Doctorate in Structural Dynamics from IIT Roorkee.
