Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that State Government was encouraging sportspersons by providing various incentives in order to boost the sports activities in the State. He was addressing the closing ceremony of three day long National Sub Junior Boys and Girls Wrestling Championship at Nalagarh in Solan district today.

Prof. Dhumal said that State Government would construct gymnasiums in every panchayat and Rs. 50,000 would be provided to every Panchayat and Nagar Parishad. He said that Rs. 17 crore would be spent on the same in the State.

Chief Minister urged the youth to refrain from consuming intoxicants and participate in sports activities to bring laurels to the State. He further said that State Government was providing various facilities and incentives to sports persons for promoting sports activities. He said that efforts would be made to popularise wrestling game by encouraging setting up of ‘Akharas’.

Prof. Virender Kashyap, President, Himachal Pradesh Wrestling Association detailed out the activities of the Association. He said that sports other than Cricket had also gained popularity during last four years in the State.

Govind Sharma and Vinod Chandel, MLAs, Meera Mohanty, Deputy Commissioner, Bhola Nath, Joint Secretary, National Wrestling Association, Lokesh Dutt and Rakesh Chadda, Vice President, Kuldeep Rana, General Secretary of the Association and prominent persons of the area were present on the occasion.
