A woman (33) was allegedly burnt alive by her husband Surinder Kumar, at Mangan village of Rajgarh sub-division of Sirmour district. DSP, Rajgarh, Ram Lal said that the couple had been quarrelling over something or the other. In the morning accused Surinder Kumar, who works as a JBT teacher, poured petrol over her and set her ablaze.
On hearing the woman’s cries, villagers gathered outside the room, but by then it was too late she had sustained 100 per cent burn injuries. Villagers then have taken her to the Regional Hospital, Rajgarh, but lack of facilities in Regional Hospital doctors referred her to Solan and then the IGMC Shimla. But before reaching IGMC Shimla, she died en route.
The police have registered a case under Section 302, IPC, against Surinder Kumar. The couple has three children.
