Himachal Vidhan Sabha Speaker B.B.L Butail called on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit at New Delhi today. He requested the Delhi Chief Minister to expedite the process of environmental clearances and other procedures for starting work on Renuka Dam Project in Sirmour district of the State. He said that the project would permanently solve the water problem of the National Capital besides additional 40 MW hydel power to the Delhi Government. He said that Himachal Pradesh Government had already submitted Rs. 1921 crore project proposal to the Central Government for financing and the State Government was awaiting the response of the Centre Government in this regard.

Butail requested the Delhi Chief Minister to take up the matter at various forums in Union Government for enabling the State Government for early start of the work so as both the States are immensely benefited from the project. He also stressed the need of better cooperation and coordination among both the neighbouring States which can immensely benefit the citizens and expand the trade and commerce in both States to mutually benefit each other.
