In the Nagrik Abhinandan Samaroh organised by Municipal Council, Dharamshala, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Dharamshala is fast emerging as major Sports Destination in the State as international level sports infrastructure facilities had been created here. State Government would explore possibility of construction of ropeways in Dharamshala area.
Chief Minister said that an international level cricket stadium had been constructed in the town where international cricket matches had been organised. He said that world class synthetic athletic track was also being constructed in Dharamshala which would help youth get training to compete at national and international level sports events. He said that Dhauladhar ranges had been a major attraction to the nature tourism lovers which had been inviting tourists from all over the world.
Dhumal said that Dharamshala had emerged an international devotional and tourist destination which had been possible with the benign presence of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama where large number of devotees visits him all round the year which had given boost to devotional tourism. He said that ‘Akshardham’ had also approached the State Government for building a temple in the area which would further give boost to devotional tourism in the district.
Chief Minister thanked Municipal Council for the ‘Nagrik Abhinandan Samaroh’ organised in his honour. He assured the Municipal Council of all possible help in creation of quality infrastructure in the council area. He said that efforts would also be made to create more parking slots in the town which was second most important town of the State.
Earlier, Kamla Patial, President, Municipal Council, Dharamshala, welcomed the Chief Minister and thanked Chief Minister for liberal financial assistance provided to the Council during past four years. She detailed out the developmental activities which had taken place in the area which included development of parking slots, housing colony for urban houseless poor. She wanted more parking slots, energy efficient street lighting system, more dumper placers, parking slots in Kotwali and Mcleodganj, protection wall for community centre, funds for construction of ‘gau sadan’ at Sarah etc. Shri Prateek Sood, Councillor, presented vote of thanks. School children presented a variety cultural programme to grace the occasion.
IPH Minister Ravinder Singh Ravi, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Vice Chairman, Kangra Central Cooperative Bank Bhagwan Dass, R.S.Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Diljeet Thakur, Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Sharma, Member, State Media Advisory Committee, Councillors of Municipal Council, prominent people of the town and senior officers of different departments were present on the occasion.
