Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal termed the state government’s Services Guarantee Act and the state Lokayukta as “a big fraud being played on the people of the state by the government”. While addressing a state-level seminar on “India Against Corruption”, organised by members of civil society, Kejriwal said he had procured a copy of the state Services Guarantee Act, which was a big fraud being played on the people of the state.
Kejriwal blames that government was linking this Act with Anna Hazare’s services guarantee Act only to misguide the public in the state. He added that the office of the state Lokayukta was mere eyewash. He advises to opt for the Uttarakhand model.
Whereas, State Chief Minister said that his government is committed to amending the legislation but the social activist could not “dictate terms” in the matter.
Dhumal elaborated that Kejriwal’s observations are not based on facts.
“The Public Service Guarantee Act passed by the government was very strong and effective and we are committed to amend the Lokayukta Act in consultation with present Lokayukta and other concerned but Kejriwal cannot dictate terms,”
Prem Kumar Dhumal claimed that BJP government has shown zero tolerance against corruption and takes all the necessary steps, including strengthening the Lokayukta, to root out corruption in the state.
